We also did a bleach rinse, prior to the vinegar rinse to help kill off any mites/lice that may be present, as advised somewhere or another? What is a glycerin rinse?

Glycerin puts oil back into the feathers, & adds sheen. I add sunflower seeds to my feed 2-3 weeks before a show, which also helps add oil/sheen to the feathers.

I know some who use Show Shine which is a horse grooming product.

Very interesting to see this done.  It must take a fair bit of time.  Now if you had 50 to wash it would be like a full time job.  Your silkie is beautiful.  Big difference in the before and after shot.

I can't believe the difference in made in how the silkie looked.
Martin Grove Farm as long as you get a system going it can go pretty fast.
I know I am still new at bathing birds for shows but if you have lots to do it is more time efficient than doing one. As the fisrt few you bathed are in crates drying as you are still bathing others, then when you need to do the finished touches on the first birds (now dry) like toe nails ect... and then the last ones drying have some time to dry while you busy trimming nails. Plus invite a few other poultry crazy people and the time flies bye!

Thank you for posting the pictures . I must give my grungy Silkies a bath one day. It looks similar to get dogs ready for a dog show, just way smaller.

Here are some colour products from the childrens hair salon" Beaners".  Should be good enough for chickens since it was tested on children :P
