Muscovy butcher age

We have some 7 week old muscovies. I would think they would be too small to spend the time butchering them, and yet I have seen that some people like to butcher them at that age. Note...I generally cook up 8 lb of meat at a time for our family.

When do you butcher them? Pros & cons for what ages? Any special tips?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Muscovy butcher age

Last year I observed that an 8 week old Muscovy drake was a good butcher size. I had a late June hatch and I butchered one in the fall, which I think was too late, he was difficult to process already at that age.
