Hoof cracked

Does anyone out there have experience with a cracked hoof? Front leg starts about half way and goes till it gets to the hide. She is limping. What do I do??

Also it looks like I need to trim pigs hooves, did not know this. What should I use?

Help would be appreciated.

Re: Hoof cracked

are you sure it's a crack? They usually start at the bottom of the hoof. Get the farrier out ASAP, if it's in the sensitive tissue they can tell you if you need the vet. Most severe cracks will need patching and reinforcing of some kind. Pictures always help Your farrier will know what to do. I use a horse hoof knife for my sheep, might be the same technique for pigs, perhaps a local pig farmer can help you out?
